Face Paint is a personal project that was crafted together from images photographed over the past 7 months.
The idea was contrasting the time, effort and dedication put into a portrait with a simple and boarder lined carless stroke of a paint brush.
I've been inspired by Seth Godin book: Icarus Deception and in the book he speaks about pushing the perceived limits of creative into new territories, by creating over and over and over again. By combining the mixed mediums I wanted to place my mind in a different perspective, while also creating contrasting ideas in the imagery.
I also created the brush stroked to feel intrusive, as if an outsider added his intrusive interpretation and perspective to the scene. Allowing the paint to cover over subjects faces was a symbol depicting the plethora of time and value we place into our lives, personalities and creativity but will often quickly try to disguise who we are to impress the new. To be strong in our perspectives, to take the time to master our crafts, which allows our voice to help change the world for better. This is what art is, its a very heavy responsibility but with dedication we will change the future.
