Brighton is a fashion and lookbook photographer living up in Santa Barbara and has been a friend since college. His work has influenced a whole movement on Instagram and has been featured by hundreds of accounts. We spent a Saturday downtown and photographed using Neon Lights.
For the images above and bellow I used a Neon Sign for the key light allowing the two tone colors to flood our model.
For the "Green and Yellow" image I had Brighton stand next to the neon sign allowing it to flood over his face, like a giant soft box. A big concern was catch lights in his eyes, thus having him stand as close as possible to the glass eliminated that obstacle.
For the "Red and Blue" series, I had the Neon Light as the key light and positioned it behind myself, letting the blue of the sky mix with the red of the sign. There was a yellow street light lamp that acted as a fill on the left side of his face.
I've been wanted to use a two color lighting scenario for a while now and I'm looking forward to getting it wired over the next couple months.
